Professor Higashi teaches kihon-no-kata the 17 basic techniques of this style: atemi-waza (striking techniques), Tekubi-waza (wrist control) techniques, hiji-waza (elbow control techniques), uki-waza (floating or throwing techniques) and much more.
Prof. Higashi demonstrates hard throwing techniques against a knife wielding attacker and techniques for controlling an opponent once he's been thrown. Tomiki Aikido is known for the effectiveness of its empty-hand defenses against knife attacks. A solid foundation for many aikido styles!
